The Man Behind the Music
DJ Derrick E. is a Chicago-based professional DJ and mixshow producer who has been rocking dance floors and creating radio-ready mixes since 1998. Rooted in Chicago's rich music history, his sets blend house, classic Chicago house, old-school dance, electro, R&B, hip-hop, funk, and mainstream club music. His sound is built on strong song selection, clean transitions, and a natural feel for keeping listeners engaged.
His radio story began when Bobby D played one of his first mixes on WDGC in Downers Grove. Derrick later became a regular contributor to B96 Chicago's "Sunday Night Street Flava," the popular 1990s mix show that featured DJs from across the Chicago area. His radio work has also included mixes for Wild 98.9, Groove 106, and WTLE 95.9, covering everything from classic house and hard house to R&B, funk, throwbacks, and current dance music.
Outside of radio and live events, Derrick has built an extensive online catalog through Derrick E. Productions. His long-running "Derrick E-Cast" and "Throwback Thursday" series have reached listeners through HearThis.at, Apple Podcasts, SoundCloud, Podomatic, and other podcast platforms.
